It has a funny name, but the kissing bug isn’t a laughing matter.
The kissing bug (pictured below) is the source of Chagas disease, a neglected tropical disease making landfall here in America.

This article brings back wonderful memories of years back when I studied Trypanosoma cruzi in Venezuela. I had the opportunity to see many of the affected people with ‘big hearts.’ I am looking forward to reading more research about this tropical disease here in Baylor.
