Making a difference in our community

Making a difference in our communityBaylor College of Medicine builds partnerships around the world to share knowledge, skills and talents that lead to improved health, education and better lives for people from Honduras to Botswana, Romania to China, and across the United States.

You don’t have to go far to see The College at work.

In Houston, our faculty and students have helped:

  • More than 26,000 young men and women between the ages of 14 to 25 used the Baylor Teen Health Clinic services in 2012.
  • 5,500 HIV/AIDS patients at Thomas Street Health Center, making it one of the largest clinics of its type in the nation. Baylor faculty and fellows help staff the clinic.
  • More than 10,000 homeless men, women and children served by Healthcare for the Homeless-Houston, a program created in 1997 by Dr. David Buck.

To get a more comprehensive look at outreach read The BCM Report: Service. The report provides a glimpse into how the College is more than just a building in the Texas Medical Center, but a force in our local, national and global communities.

The publication received an honorable mention from Ragan’s PR Daily’s most recent awards for Corporate Social Responsibility for engagement and communications.
